Jones F. Devlin Award
The Chamber of Shipping of America, Jones F. Devlin Award is presented to all self-propelled vessels which have operated for two or more years without a crew member losing a full turn at watch as a result of an occupational injury. Three specific degrees of achievement are recognized: an initial two-year award, a second award after four years, and a special award presented annually after five years of accident-free operation. Kirby Inland Marine received 90 awards in 2000, which was the largest number of awards presented to any one company. The TRAVELER, FRIO, COLORADO, and DIXIE CHALLENGE received special awards honoring ten consecutive years or more without a lost time injury.
