ESI and EMD offer two diesel engine courses covering all major components and a variety of engine systems. These courses are conducted by factory trained, field experienced personnel from ESI's service, parts and engineering departments.

Training aids include an EMD engine with component parts workstations targeted for a hands-on learning environment. Interactive training provides the opportunity to gain knowledge from ESI's staff as well as the other attendees. The courses provide attendees with the up-to-date knowledge and skills that are necessary for the proper operation of the General Motors EMD diesel engine.

The primary objective of the courses is to introduce to technical, service, and maintenance personnel the operational, maintenance and troubleshooting history of the EMD engine in a controlled learning environment.

After completing the Technical and Practical Engine Courses, the student will have the necessary technical data to maintain and operate the EMD engine in a most cost-effective manner. Routine maintenance techniques are stressed throughout the courses.
